The quays close at the end of the day and the harbour changes mode within half an hour. Deck lights go on, stewards bring out trays, people with clipboards appear at the passerelles. What follows is the part of the week people actually come for: a cocktail at a shipyard stand, dinner on the waterfront, a reception on board at ten sharp by the owner's invitation. The question is simple — spend that evening between your phone and the hotel lobby, or have someone beside you who holds a conversation in English, knows the difference between a broker's reception and dinner for two, and doesn't ask the wrong questions. We're the second option. Fifteen years in the principality.

About the forum
The Monaco Yacht Show has run since 1991 and remains the leading superyacht show in the world. The venue never changes: Port Hercule, the principality's main harbour, with the exhibits in the water and the stands laid out along Quai Louis II and Quai Antoine 1er. The organiser is Informa Markets. The format is constant — four days, Wednesday to Saturday, in the last week of September.
The scale. Around 120 superyachts afloat, over 580 exhibitors, roughly 30,000 visitors across four days. Average length on display is about fifty metres; the largest go past ninety. Every year part of the fleet is shown for the first time — shipyards traditionally save world premieres for Monaco. Around the water are the stands of design studios, brokerage houses, interior and equipment suppliers, plus a separate display of partner cars.
The audience isn't walk-in. These are owners and prospective owners, brokers, shipyard representatives, designers, lawyers and family offices who do business on the water and around it. Access is paid and controlled: tickets and accreditation, with parts of the site open only on an exhibitor's invitation. A separate one-day program for first-time buyers runs on the eve of the opening.
The main difference from any conference: a large share of the event happens not on the stands but on board. Shipyard receptions, broker cocktails, closed dinners on deck, interior viewings for a narrow circle — all by list, all with an exact boarding time. There is almost no public evening program, and what exists is a continuation of the daytime introductions.
For us that means a different request profile than in May. At the Grand Prix the evening is built around the race; here it's built around a deal and an introduction. The pace is steadier, the conversation longer, the expectations on languages and manner higher. We've worked in Monaco since 2012 and we know that a harbourside table for Thursday goes a month out, that you don't arrive late to a ten o'clock reception, and that we send nobody onto a quay without a confirmed yacht name and captain.

How we operate during the forum
In an ordinary week the principality is calm: a request comes in two or three days out and selection takes thirty to sixty minutes. During the show that doesn't apply — hotels go in summer, restaurants close their books, and the model calendar fills long before Wednesday.
— The ideal lead time is two to three months before September 22. Settling it in early July is best. In that window we agree the days, the type, languages, venues, the dress code for each evening and the meeting point on the waterfront.
— The minimum lead time is two weeks. We'll take it, but by then the choice is narrow: only a handful are left for Thursday and Friday.
— Same-day — only if a slot has opened up; across four days that's rare. The honest answer is usually "today won't work, let's look at Saturday."
The languages we keep for the show:
- English — the industry's working language and a hard requirement for these dates
- Italian — shipyards, design studios and half the brokerage houses work out of Italy
- French — at social-dinner level, for receptions with a local audience
- Russian — most of the roster, for guests from Moscow and the CIS
What we do without being asked:
- Agree the dress code for the venue. A daytime cocktail on deck, dinner at Le Louis XV and a late format at Twiga are three different looks. Heels on a passerelle and on teak are their own conversation, and we have it in advance.
- Confirm the yacht's name, the captain's name and the boarding time. Without those the model doesn't go to the quay — that's a safety rule, not a formality.
- Keep the guest's work chat out of the evening. All questions go through the manager.
- Keep the size of the place in mind. Monaco is small, the industry is smaller, and in public we behave accordingly.
Where guests stay
The harbour belongs to the show, so guests stay around it — within a ten- to fifteen-minute walk. Rooms on these dates go in summer, and some hotels only sell them as a full-week package.
Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo
Place du Casino. The Société des Bains de Mer flagship since 1864, reopened after the 2018 renovation. Ten minutes downhill to Quai Antoine 1er. Inside are Le Louis XV — Alain Ducasse, Le Grill and the Salon Rose bar. During show week the lobby works as a meeting room: half the brokerage conversations happen here. Private entrance on Allée Saint-Charles.
Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo
Square Beaumarchais. Belle Époque, 1900, with the Winter Garden's glass dome by the Eiffel workshop. Quieter than its neighbour on the square, with an underground passage to the casino. Our pick when a guest wants the SBM standard without the exposure of the main facade — and this week the principality has exposure to spare.

Not part of SBM; its own format, with interiors by Jacques Garcia. Joël Robuchon Monte-Carlo and the Japanese restaurant Yoshi are inside. The street behind the casino is quiet — right when the day is spent on the quays and the evening is about food.

Forum day logistics
The show is compact: the whole event fits into one harbour and you can walk it in twenty minutes. The difficulty is not distance but access.
How the days work.
Build-up starts two weeks ahead and the yachts come into the harbour over the preceding weekend. Wednesday is the opening and the densest business day. Thursday and Friday are the peak: meetings, viewings, receptions. Saturday is calmer, and by evening some crews are already preparing to leave. On Sunday the harbour empties.
Access.
The show site is closed: entry by ticket and accreditation, boarding only on an exhibitor's or owner's invitation. The model doesn't pass through the gates on her own — we bring her to an agreed point, a hotel lobby, a specific restaurant or the head of a quay, and the guest or a crew member meets her there.
The road from Nice.
Nice Côte d'Azur airport is about 25 minutes off-peak. The helicopter shuttle to Monaco Heliport in Fontvieille takes 7 minutes and is booked well ahead for these dates. The train to the underground Monaco Monte-Carlo station is around half an hour.

Port Hercule is given over to the exhibition for these four days, so private yachts berth in Fontvieille, at the Cap d'Ail marina or further along the coast, and come into the principality by tender or by car. We agree the landing point in advance — it shifts depending on where the boat sits.
The evening.
On-board receptions start around seven and run in waves until midnight. In parallel the restaurants by the harbour and up in Monte-Carlo are working: Cipriani, Maya Bay, Le Louis XV, Joël Robuchon, Le Grill. After that Twiga and Buddha-Bar, then Jimmy'z, which closes later than usual this week. Some formats run on lists; the manager will share the current picture for your dates.

The Yacht Show is our second heaviest peak of the year after the Grand Prix. A short chronicle:
2023 (September 27–30) — the show at the end of September with the harbour at capacity. The year we first saw a real volume of requests from brokerage teams rather than private guests: a different evening profile, weighted towards conversation and presence.
2024 (September 25–28) — four days, an audience of roughly thirty thousand. The classic shape of the week: Wednesday for business, Thursday and Friday on receptions, Saturday winding down. Our Thursday slots were gone in August.
2025 (September 24–27) — around 120 superyachts and over 580 exhibitors. The most Italian year by our request mix: shipyards and design studios brought their clients, and Italian became as necessary for this week as English.
2026 (September 23–26) — the 35th edition in Port Hercule. By this year we had fully moved to the rule that the yacht name, the captain's name and the boarding time are confirmed before the model leaves.
2027 (September 22–25, expected dates) — the organiser confirms dates in advance. The show traditionally takes the last week of September, Wednesday to Saturday; if the schedule moves, the manager will tell you and shift the bookings.

What are the rates during the show?
The Monaco baseline is €1,500 for two hours and €2,000 for four. A separate rate applies over show week and the slot is reserved in advance, normally against a deposit. Overnight, full-day and trips along the coast are by arrangement, quoted before the booking.

Can I book one model for all four days, and what about cancellations?
One model for the whole week is the format we prefer — the evenings run more smoothly — with 10–15% off packages of three days or more. Cancellation 48 hours out or more is free, 24–48 hours is 50%, under 24 hours is 100%. On show dates a free move needs 7 days' notice.
We're arriving on our own boat. Where do we meet?
Port Hercule is taken up by the exhibition, so private yachts usually berth in Fontvieille, at the Cap d'Ail marina or further along the coast. We agree the landing point and time in advance and work the model's route from there.
