The pace of the city

Nice works less as a stage in its own right than as a base. A client flies into NCE, stays on the Promenade des Anglais and travels out from there: Friday, dinner in Monaco; Saturday, Cannes or Antibes; Sunday, Èze and Cap Ferrat. So the typical request here doesn't sound like "I need a companion for the evening" but "landing Thursday at 18:40, three days, evenings in different cities" — logistics across several days rather than a single meeting.

That produces the main difference between Nice and its neighbours, Monaco and Cannes. There, companion service is almost always tied to one specific venue on one specific evening. Here it is tied to a route: the model meets the guest at his hotel in Nice, and dinner may happen in another city and another country — twenty minutes to the Monaco border, fifty to the Italian one. Scenarios like that need agreeing ahead of time: departure hour, who drives, where the night ends.

The second difference is density. Nice is roughly ten times bigger than Monaco by population — about 350,000 residents against 38,000, the fifth city of France. There is ordinary urban life here: normal restaurants, the Cours Saleya market in the mornings, a tram line, crowds on Avenue Jean Médecin. That is convenient — companion service in Nice draws far less attention than in the principality, where everyone knows everyone by sight.

Peak days are Thursday to Sunday, peak hours 20:00-03:00. In season requests come in a week or two ahead; out of season, often a day ahead. The manager replies within three minutes around the clock, matching takes 30-60 minutes in an ordinary week and up to two hours in the May and August peaks.

Nice as a hub: logistics for the whole Côte d'Azur

This is the main reason clients choose Nice as their base. Nice Côte d'Azur is the only airport on the coast with direct flights from most European capitals: two passenger terminals plus one of the busiest business-aviation terminals in Europe. From the airport to the centre is 20 minutes by taxi or roughly half an hour on tram line 2, which runs from the terminals to Jean Médecin and on towards the port.

• Beaulieu-sur-Mer — 15 minutes;
• Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat — 20 minutes;
• Monaco — 25 minutes on the A8, about 22 km; the heli-shuttle from NCE — 7 minutes;
• Antibes and Cap d'Antibes — 25-30 minutes;
• Cannes — 30 minutes, 33 km on the A8;
• Saint-Paul-de-Vence — 30 minutes;
• Menton — 40 minutes;
• San Remo, Italy — around 50 minutes;
• Saint-Tropez — 1.5 hours out of season; in July and August the approach past Sainte-Maxime genuinely takes 2.5-3 hours;
• Portofino — around 3 hours.

The practical conclusion is simple: anything closer than Cannes fits into a single evening without an overnight stay. Saint-Tropez in August is no longer an evening but a full day with a night on site, and it gets planned separately. We say this plainly at the agreement stage, so that half a paid slot doesn't disappear into the road.

If a guest arrives by private jet or leaves for Monaco by helicopter, coordination shifts slightly: the model usually doesn't travel on the flight but meets him on arrival — at Monaco Heliport, at the hotel or at the restaurant. Every trip outside Nice is agreed in advance, normally at least a day ahead, and the terms for it are on request, separately from base pricing.

The season and the coastal calendar

Nice lives by the calendar of the Côte d'Azur, and that calendar is fairly rigid.

February brings the Nice Carnival, one of the largest carnival events in Europe: around two weeks of night corsi on Place Masséna and the Bataille de fleurs on the Promenade des Anglais. The city fills up, but the crowd is families and tourists, and hotels are not yet on summer rates. A calm month for companion service — agreement usually takes two or three days.

May is a double peak and the most intense stretch of the year. The Cannes Film Festival occupies roughly twelve days mid-month, and the Monaco Grand Prix takes the last weekend of May. In those weeks the entire coast is full: Cannes and Monaco are packed, and Nice becomes the base for everyone who was late or unwilling to pay festival room rates. We recommend planning May at least two weeks ahead, ideally a month. Fewer models are free on those dates, and terms for trips to Cannes and Monaco are agreed individually.

June to August is the main season. The Nice Jazz Festival runs in July in the Jardin Albert 1er and on Place Masséna. August is the peak of the beach and yacht format, with hotels at maximum occupancy and the coast road standing still. September gives a second wave: the Monaco Yacht Show on the last weekend of the month tightens the whole Riviera again, and the weather in Nice in September is often better than in August.

October to January is the off-season. The city empties, hotel rates halve, and part of the beach restaurants close until spring. We work all year round, and out of season the choice is wider and agreement faster — same-day is common. The exception is the New Year weeks, when the coast comes alive again.

Where we work

The Promenade des Anglais — seven kilometres along the Baie des Anges, the main axis of the city and our principal working line. Here you have Negresco with its pink dome, the Hyatt Regency Palais de la Méditerranée behind its 1929 Art Deco façade, Le Méridien with a rooftop pool, and the private beaches Blue Beach, Castel Plage and Ruhl Plage. Carré d'Or — the quarter between Rue Paradis, Rue Alphonse Karr and Avenue de Suède. Shops, jewellers, Anantara Plaza Nice two steps away, the Jardin Albert 1er and Place Masséna nearby. A convenient point for the daytime format: shopping, lunch, coffee on a terrace.

Vieux Nice — the old town: Cours Saleya with its flower market in the mornings and antiques on Mondays, Place Rossetti, narrow streets, Le Bistrot d'Antoine, La Petite Maison by the Opera. An evening restaurant format without pomp — nobody here studies the guests.

Port Lympia — the port of Nice, the Quai Lunel and Quai des Docks embankments, yachts, restaurants by the water, JAN on Rue Lascaris. This is where we run the yacht format from May to October, and where the ferries to Corsica leave from.

Cimiez — the hill above the city: the Roman arena, the Matisse Museum, the Chagall Museum, quiet residences. An intimate daytime format, occasionally clients' private addresses.

Colline du Château and Mont Boron — panoramas over the Baie des Anges and over the port. A good stop at sunset before dinner, ten minutes by car from the Promenade.

Trips out — Monaco, Èze, Cap Ferrat, Beaulieu, Antibes, Cannes, Saint-Paul-de-Vence, Menton, San Remo, Saint-Tropez. Format and terms for trips are agreed separately, at least a day in advance.

Etiquette and dress code

Nice is softer than Monaco, and that is worth understanding in advance. Nice itself has no venue with a formal jacket-required regime on the level of the Monte-Carlo casino: this is a resort city, and the evening code here is elegant casual. But that is precisely why it is easy to get it wrong when the evening isn't happening in Nice.

Le Chantecler at Negresco is the most formal restaurant in the city: jacket for the guest, cocktail or long dress for the companion. Flaveur holds two Michelin stars, the room is small, the code is smart casual — but a dress and a heel sit better here than jeans. JAN by the port is an intimate format, elegant without excess. La Petite Maison and Le Bistrot d'Antoine are a plain city evening: a dress or trousers, no requirements at all.

Out of town the rules tighten. La Chèvre d'Or in Èze has a terrace above the sea at some four hundred metres, an evening crowd that behaves, and an elegant format. Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc on Cap d'Antibes and the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat run by their own code: resort-casual by day, strict by evening. And if the evening ends in Monaco, you dress by Monaco's rules rather than Nice's — the casino's Salle Privée will not let anyone in after 20:00 in trainers and shorts. By day on the Promenade and on the private beaches the format is beachwear with a cover-up; nobody sits down in a beach-club restaurant in a swimsuit. Things we say plainly

The minimum slot is 2 hours, as in all 58 cities of the network. But in Nice two hours means the city only: an aperitif, dinner in Vieux Nice or on the Promenade. Any trip out — Monaco, Cannes, Èze — physically doesn't fit into two hours: the round trip alone eats between forty minutes and an hour and a half. For trips the realistic format starts at 4 hours.

Base pricing: €1,500 for 2 hours, €2,000 for 4 hours. Media segment — from €3,500 for 2 hours and from €5,000 for 4 hours. A night, 24 hours, two days and any trip outside Nice are on request: there are too many variables, from the date in the coastal calendar to the route and the return transfer. The manager states the terms up front, before booking, not after the fact.

For the May weeks — the Cannes Film Festival and the Monaco Grand Prix — demand across the whole coast multiplies several times over. Plan two to four weeks ahead, with a deposit and the model fixed in advance. We still take "tomorrow evening in the middle of the festival" requests, but we warn honestly: the choice will be narrow.
