The pace of the city

Tomsk is compact and at the same time very specific. The student capital of Siberia: out of 500,000 residents, more than 60,000 are students, and a notable share of them are international — from China, India, Kazakhstan. That shapes the rhythm of the centre, especially around Lenin Avenue and Novosobornaya Square: a Thursday evening here runs livelier than a Saturday in Novosibirsk.

The premium clientele in Tomsk is a separate audience. Senior figures from the oil, gas and nuclear sector (Seversk, Strezhevoy, the Siberian Chemical Combine), professors with grants and international contacts, conference guests at TSU and TPU, delegations at U-Novus. Half the requests come in for tomorrow or the day after, not for tonight. Wednesday can run as a peak — built around academic events and oil and gas forums.

The time zone is GMT+7, four hours ahead of Moscow. A Moscow client should keep that in mind: "by nine in the evening" in chat with the manager means Tomsk nine, not Moscow nine.

Where we work

The centre of Tomsk is compact: Lenin Avenue from Lenin Square to Novosobornaya, Ushaika and Tom embankments, Voskresenskaya Hill, the TSU district and University Grove. The key hotels sit here too — Magistrat, Bon Apart, Sky Royal, the Sibir hotel — together with most of the premium restaurants. Five to fifteen minutes by car from one point to another.

Tatarskaya Sloboda is a separate zone below Voskresenskaya Hill: blocks of wooden architecture with 19th-century landmarks. We take guests of the city there for a walk, less often — for dinner at restaurants with views of the old timber houses. Lagerny Sad above the Tom River — a place for daytime meetings and autumn walks; from there opens the broad reach of the river and the far bank.

The country format — Timiryazevskoye and the Timiryazevsky highway: Lesnaya Rezidentsia, Artek Park Hotel, recreation bases in the pine forest. Twenty to thirty minutes from the centre. In winter — only with a transfer; in summer walks and trips into the Ob-Tom interfluve are possible.

Premium hotels

In Tomsk there is no five-star segment in the strict sense — the city market doesn't pull in international networks of the Marriott or Hilton tier, the way neighbouring Novosibirsk does. What there is — several solid four-star hotels and premium residences, which we work with at the level of service we'd expect from a five-star.

Magistrat Hotel on Gogol 15 is our flagship in the centre, a boutique format in a historic building. Bon Apart Hotel on Solyanaya Square — modern and quiet, a step from the embankment. Sky Royal on Belentsa Street — for guests who want a high floor and a panorama. AZIMUT Hotel Tomsk — international network, the comfort of a familiar standard. Grand Hotel Magistr on Gagarin Street and the Toyan hotel on Karl Marx Street — for the business format with oil and gas guests.

Etiquette and dress code

The Tomsk public is academic and restrained. At Magistrat, Bon Apart, AZIMUT the model's dress code is business evening or cocktail, no excess. For restaurants in the centre — the same: evening dress, restrained makeup. For dinner in Tatarskaya Sloboda or a walk on Voskresenskaya Hill — the style softens a touch, smart casual in the evening.

Winter in Tomsk runs long and serious: from November through March, with regular -25 and episodes of -35. Logistics shift radically: a transfer between every point is mandatory; a taxi here in -30 is a lottery, and we keep our own trusted drivers. The model wears proper outerwear and footwear for the weather. For meetings in Timiryazevskoye in winter — only with a guaranteed transfer, no city taxis on the long legs.

Things we say plainly

Tomsk is a compact market. The model base here is smaller than in Novosibirsk or Krasnoyarsk; selection is stricter precisely because of the volume — we'd rather work with a tested narrow circle than dilute the standard. Conversational English — across a notable share of the base, which matters in Tomsk because of foreign students and guests of TSU's international conferences.

Average bill — from 45,000 ₽ for two hours to 160,000 ₽ for two days. Media-tier models — from 130,000 ₽ for two hours, access opens to returning clients. Payment — cash, bank transfer, crypto by agreement. At peak academic events (U-Novus in May, Open Doors in September, oil and gas forums) — raised tariff, booking 1-2 weeks ahead.

The boundaries are the same as across the other 48 cities in the network: meetings under two hours — we don't take; mass events without a specific client — not our format; sharing model photos with third parties — forbidden. APEX has been working since 2012, and these simple boundaries hold the standard.
