MIPIM week
March, five days, more than twenty thousand property professionals from over ninety countries. By day, stands and panels at the Palais des Festivals; in the evening, parallel receptions at the Croisette hotels and on chartered yachts in the Vieux Port. Companion work here is exactly the evening part: a partner's reception, dinner with the delegation, a late bar. The usual format is 4-6 hours, business dress code with an evening shift, and the companion reads as part of your party.

Cannes Film Festival
Twelve days in the second half of May. The town is closed off with barriers and accreditation, the Croisette stands still, and the hotels run at the limit on triple rates booked back in winter. The real companion scenario in those days is not the red staircase but the evening programme around it: dinner at La Palme d'Or or at the Carlton, receptions on the terraces of the Martinez and the Majestic, a night at Bâoli. Entry to closed evenings and to the montée des marches is provided by the client with their own accreditation.

Cannes Lions
Five days in the third week of June. The crowd is younger and looser than at MIPIM: advertising holdings, platforms, brands. The key difference is that the programme leans heavily on daytime beach venues and terraces — Zplage at the Martinez, the Majestic beach, Bâoli Beach. An evening usually runs in three or four moves, so clients here take a long slot rather than a dinner.

Cannes Yachting Festival
Six days in September, around seven hundred boats and more than six hundred and eighty exhibitors across two sites — the Vieux Port and Port Canto. The audience: owners, brokers, shipyards, designers. The companion format is dinners on board at the owner's invitation, receptions at shipyard stands, a late evening at Bâoli across the road from Port Canto. A run out on the water or lunch on the islands often gets added during the day.

The most frequent Cannes scenario outside the peak weeks. A table of four to eight, the companion as part of your party: holds the conversation, knows when to join in and when to step back, doesn't pull focus. Le Park 45 in the park of Le Grand Hôtel — when you need conversation without extra ears. Fouquet's at the Majestic — when you need the shop window. Da Laura — when the evening should look informal. Format 3-4 hours, often with a move to the hotel bar.

An evening on the Croisette
The classic evening with no business reason behind it. Aperitif at the Carlton bar or on the Martinez terrace, dinner at La Palme d'Or or La Môme, a walk along the seafront from the Palais to Port Canto, then whatever the mood suggests — a rooftop or the club at Bâoli. Format 4-6 hours, and the easiest of all on logistics: everything is walkable along one street.
